Gemmological oddities

One of our obsessive frustrations is why women wear costume jewellery when, for a similar expenditure, they can wear big real gemstones. We are constantly challenging customers and bespoke clients by presenting them with things they had never conceived came out of the ground – slices of watermelon tourmaline, strange mixed stones like ametrines, stripy parti-sapphires, and our ever favourite rutilated quartz. These stones can be set simply in sterling silver, wrapped in gold leaf, or mixed with finer gems and precious metals. However presented, they offer wonderful fun and assert an inventiveness and confidence which cannot be equalled by plastic jewellery.
