White and black diamonds
With more of you shacking up, snuggling down, and getting hitched, we have been making some pretty unique diamond rings. We can safely say no two are alike! Not only have the girls been wanting an upbeat Venerari version of bling, but the boys have been queuing up for discreet slivers of black and white diamond in their rings. Here is a fantastic example, but we challenge you to come in with even trickier briefs and more outrageous ideas for us to turn into reality

Australian diamonds
Increasingly, our clients ask specifically for an Australian diamond. We are now doing quite a lot of these, from rings with a multitude of small yellows, pinks and blues, to settings with larger more substantial stones. We have just procured for an international client an extraordinary cognac-coloured Argyle diamond, a rare clear cushion cut, which will be made into an extremely special engagement ring. Australian-sourced diamonds seem especially important for Australians living abroad, or for clients who have some affinity/working relationship with the land. As Argyle no longer produce white diamonds, we are seeing huge trends towards coloured local diamonds.
Bring it on!

A very special diamond
We have for sale one truly unique stone, the likes of which we rarely see in Australia. This stone, a 1.09ct round brilliant cut, is internally flawless, and a D colour. For those of you who have done Diamond Grading 101 (i.e. five minutes on the internet) you will know that this is about as good as it gets, essentially the perfect diamond. For the collectors amongst you, have a think about this one, and whom you might like to give it to, as you’re unlikely to see another one for quite some time. Of course, it comes certified by IGI, reputed as the best and most stringent certification laboratory in the world.

Helen’s pearl ring
Recently we asked each of our staff to design a piece for the JAA awards. Some we can’t yet show you for non-disclosure reasons, but we are very excited to be able to now have several of those pieces in-store. This month’s treat is the extraordinary pearl designed by our youngest team member Helen. This large oyster-shaped sterling silver ring has a beautiful baroque pearl in it, as well as tiny fronds of gold that move and waft with the ring. This must be seen to be believed and, as its silver, makes a fantastic cocktail ring that is both light on hand and on wallet.

Our new range with Ina
Our talented jeweler Monika is off on her three month adventure, doing further specialist courses in Germany, and roaming around the US with Sarah. With her usual aplomb, she has lined up her equally starry replacement, Ina Beilmann. This has given us the opportunity to do a new collaborative range with Ina, without gems, using different brushed and polished metals. The first of these pieces are now coming off the bench and into the store. Mostly the pieces will be silver, with some small components of gold, so we are fairly nervous that these modestly-priced pieces will be snapped up before we get enough off the bench and into the cabinet at one time to call it a ‘range’

Odd cut amethysts
As you know, we have an eye and a penchant for an odd shape in a coloured gem. Recently we acquired a set of very funky amethysts. Knowing how much you all like amethysts, we have made them into a fairly lavish set of cocktail rings (with one or two pendants for the braver girls). These are guaranteed to stop a conversation or press interview and, as they are in sterling silver as well as white gold, can be a fabulous ‘not-significant-occasion’ gift. We have a wave of people coming in to spend their tax refunds before something else mundane gobbles it up, we encourage you to put such funds to memorable use, and pay the phone bill next week instead!
