New website
In this brief moment of calm before Christmas madness descends, we have taken the opportunity to update our website. In addition to fine-tuning some layouts to make it easier to read and click through, we have added images from several new collections, one or two of our favourite bespoke pieces, and a news/press section. Those who have followed our recent series of full-page ads in Monument may have already seen some of these new images. |

Opals show a new flare
The annual Fashion Supplement in The Australian of 24 November features venerari as this year’s profiled jeweller. It proclaims the return to fashion of the opal in contemporary designs, as pioneered by venerari. There is a full article about us, as well as photographs of five pieces of our jewellery. It is immensely satisfying to us that the tastes of our loyal customer base are now being endorsed by
Australia
’s most influential fashion editor, Georgina Safe. She concludes that the Golden Rules for jewellery now are to “layer fine gold chain with opals, pink sapphires and diamonds…”. This is exactly what we have been doing now for more than 2 years since we opened with the vision “to reinvent the opal”. |

Christmas approaches
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is now less than 3 weeks away. Our workshop is busily finishing off a selection of new jewellery for viewing in the shop. If you are wishing to commission a bespoke piece for Christmas, please be sure to visit us and complete your order soon. We expect that with our current orders we will not be able to guarantee Christmas delivery for orders taken after the second week of December. We are now open on Sunday from 11am-3pm until Christmas. Remember that Christmas Eve is a Sunday this year. We’ll be open then for last minute gift purchases until about 5pm, when we, like all of you, will need a stiff Christmas drink before heading home to welcome Santa. |

Fancy coloured diamonds
We have succumbed to your many requests to add more diamonds to our collection of gems. So in keeping with our passion for coloured gems, we are now stocking a discrete selection of natural fancy coloured Australian Argyle diamonds. For those who are not familiar with these gems, the Argyle coloured diamond is the rarest and most valuable diamond in the world. It comes in a range of natural vivid colours - blue, brown, yellow, champagne and pink. We now have a selection available in the shop, including a 0.65ct round pink-champagne and a spectacular blue – the rarest of all. |

Summer Winter
Those of you in the know will have heard about cult fashion magazine SummerWinter. http://www.summerwinter.com This exceedingly glossy publication is a bi-annual fashion magazine produced in, and inspired by, Australian design. As the publishers describe on their website, SummerWinter ‘is an overheard conversation, the final scene of your favourite film, a rediscovered photo album, a discarded diary”. Edition 5, just released for summer, features a sumptuous spread of venerari’s opal jewellery, beautifully shot. While we are getting used to the flurry of press interest, this is the first time our jewellery has been in a shoot which oozes such sensuality. There’s something alluring for everyone’s tastes in this magazine, so seek out a copy now! |

Gemmological obsessions
Any of you who wandered past our window last month would have seen the glorious and extensive crystal collection lent to us for display by our jeweler Stuart. This confirms our suspicions that he is a true gem-geek as well as a masterful craftsman. The rest of the venerari team also continues to shine in ever-ongoing gemmological studies – Cara has now completed her two-year Gemmological Diploma, Claudi has excelled at her post-graduate degree in Diamond Technology, and Kingsley has emerged as a Registered Valuer, one of less than 150 in
Australia
. This ensures the venerari team remains the most skilled group of shop staff you are likely to encounter in a jewellery store in
Australia
