Way back in May 2007, Genevieve bought for Kingsley on his birthday a derelict 1941 caravan (she thought he’d like the radio). In return, Kingsley bought Genevieve a race-car for her birthday a month later (but that’s another story). After three-and-a-half years of careful restoration, “The Glen” was delivered to Venerari earlier this year. It is one of only a few 1940s vans standing in Australia. It had, during its restoration, a cult following, indeed its own blog! It will be lovingly used as the mobile Venerari showroom at wedding fairs, and as a safe haven in the wilds of west Queensland’s gemfields when we are on buying trips. We’ll let you know when its next out and you can come to see us!

We recently finished bespoke engagement and wedding rings for the very lovely Josa. She loved our hands-on service and design approach so much that she created her own blog to tell her friends all about it, from start to finish. April was the 20th anniversary of Targa Tasmania – known to enthusiasts as the world’s best car rally. Kingsley and Genevieve raced in the Venerari Racing classic 1987 BMW M3. It was Kingsley’s return trip to Targa, having been amongst the select group who made the event possible by competing in its inaugural running nearly 20 years ago. Targa races around Tassie’s best roads for 6 days finishing in Hobart with a gala presentation dinner at Wrest Point. This year there were 340 entrants, making it a huge travelling circus and a boon for the tiny state’s economy, showcasing the best that Tasmania has to offer in roads, scenery and then wine and food in the evenings. To top off the week, Kingsley and Genevieve returned home with a few trophies having finished 2nd in the Legends Competition. You can see highlights of their race on the UK’s classic BMW website

We were delighted that somewhere in that lost week of Christmas/New Year (possibly as a result of being given a giddy 4 consecutive days off), ‘our’ Claudi got engaged. As you can imagine, in an industry where we’re always dealing with engagements, the pressure of ‘what the ring would look like’ is immense. As usual, Claudi rolled through the process with the utmost confidence, declaring ‘Good things take time, but after all the speculations The Ring is finally revealed. Handcrafted in platinum, it comprises a cushion cut Madagascan sapphire in a ‘nuggety’ shaped end setting, with a square ring shank in a satin finish. In the car world I would probably describe it as the Aston Martin – beautiful, contemporary, simply elegant, designed outside the mainstream. Just a subtle statement of purpose’
