venerari and the 20th anniversary of Targa Tasmania

And now for something completely different. Something more likely to appeal to the petrolheads amongst you instead of just the gem and design aficionados – although we recognise that there is some cross-over between groups, Kingsley of course being living proof.

Next month is the 20th anniversary of Targa Tasmania – known to enthusiasts as the world’s best car rally. We mention this because Kingsley and Genevieve will be competing in the venerari racing classic 1987 BMW M3.

Kingsley's M3 for Targa 2011

It’s Kingsley’s first return trip to Targa, having been invited back to compete as a member of the select group of racers who made the event possible by competing in its inaugural running nearly 20 years ago. Targa races around Tassie’s best roads for 6 days, starting in Launceston and finishing in Hobart for a gala presentation dinner at Wrest Point. This year the event has over 370 entrants, making it a huge travelling circus and a boon for the tiny state’s economy, showcasing the best that Tassie has to offer in roads, scenery and then wine and food in the evenings.

We cannot wait.
